The ITIL 4 certification scheme is designed to remain compatible with the existing certification scheme. This means that all existing certifications remain valid until they are replaced by an update. If you also collect points within the Axelos program, you also have all the credits that you can easily transfer to the new certification scheme.
The basis remains the ITIL 4 Foundation. Another module is ITIL Specialist, which contains 3 programs, ITIL Strategist, ITIL Leader and ITIL Master.
It is a basic (entry) certification in the ITIL 4 hierarchy. As part of an intensive 3-day course, you will gain the knowledge needed to master key principles, processes and terminology. Additional certification and the scheme have been simplified to allow a smooth transition from ITIL v3, but also a more practical start for brand new ITIL candidates 4.
This stream is aimed at IT specialists who work in innovative or digital teams across organizations. ITIL MP stream gives graduates the ability to build effective IT services and manage projects. The whole stream contains a total of 3 modules.
Once you have successfully obtained certifications from all 3 modules + you will be certified in ITIL Strategist: Direct Plan & Improve, you can pass the final exam (assignment) in the level of ITIL Managing Professional and get the title of the same name.
It brings real value to business and end users with the help of ITIL methodology for IT Operation, Development and Service Management. Strategic Leader is able to implement IT solutions to bring the required business needs. ITIL SL contains 2 modules. Their completion is necessary for the final certification / assessment of the entire stream, i.e. ITIL Strategic Leader.
If you want to obtain the ITIL® Master qualification, you must complete all courses from both streams, i.e. ITIL Managing Professional and ITIL Strategy Leader, including the final assignment from both modules.
We have prepared a certification guide for those of you who have completed ITIL training with Axelos certification or are collecting credits. The tips below will help you upgrade from ITIL v3 to ITIL 4 in the form of a recommended roadmap to help you move to ITIL 4 while making the most of your knowledge, skills and certifications.
So you simply upgrade to the new certification scheme and gain new knowledge, skills in lean management, agile, linking development with IT Operations, etc.. This course is available from February 28, 2019. Current course dates can be found here:
If you do not have the highest ambitions, but rather want to specialize and use only partial parts of the ITIL 4 Update, we recommend obtaining the ITIL 4 Foundation certification and then choosing a preferred area of interest, ITIL Specialist, Strategist or Leader. These modules will be gradually launched during 2019-2020.
If you are motivated, be sure to continue collecting credits. Once you reach 17 credits, you are eligible for the ITIL Managing Professional Module (to be launched). The advantage is that you can quickly build on the acquired knowledge, skills and obtain an advantageous ITIL Managing Across the Lifecycle certification.
If your ambitions are even higher, we then recommend the Strategic Leader ITIL certification course, which you will receive by completing only the ITIL Leader Digital & Strategy module.
